The Story Behind the Name

Everyone asks how I came up with the name Emerald Events. Well like anything else there is a story behind the name.

My birthday is May 7th. Shout out to all the May babies!  Being a May baby my birthstone is Emerald.

I remember being about 7 years old and my grandmother buying me jewelry for my birthday. The jewelry was gold with green gems. I had no idea at the time why she picked green but she tried to explain why it was so special. She told me that my birthstone was Emerald and that I should keep the jewelry forever because it was a symbol of my birth and that I should be proud of it.

I also remember my mother telling me that it was important that I only wore the jewelry on special occasions. Unfortunately I never got the chance to. Our apartment was broken in to and the jewelry was stolen.

Although I never got a chance to wear the jewelry the meaning behind my birthstone and how special it made me feel stayed with me forever.

So that’s where the love of Emerald comes from!

Now on to the love of pink. It’s simple, I’m a girl I love pink..hahaha. Always have and always will. A bonus is my best friend of 17 years…guess what? Her birthstone is Pink Tourmaline!

And so was born the name of Emerald Events and the colors of our lovely company….. Pink and Green!

The Bride’s Love for Tattoos!!

We had the pleasure of planning a beautiful wedding for our fun-loving couple Amanda and Travis in September 2016.  We met them at a vendor show at The Brownstone in Richmond, Virginia and it was a match made in heaven from the minute we met!

I remember meeting them and hoping they would call to book us. It took  a few days but when I got the call I was ecstatic! They seemed like so much fun and I just wanted to be apart of that…even if just for the planning process.

The reason why I decided to blog about this wedding specifically was because I wanted to showcase my brides lovely artwork or in better terms her TATTOOS!

They were awesome! She wore a Vera Wang dress in platinum with unique accessories. Those accessories were her beautiful tattoos! I know some brides use make-up or pick a dress that is cut to cover tattoos. My opinion is whatever will make you feel gorgeous on your special day then do that!

My advice to all brides is listen to your own inner voice when it comes to deciding on every single detail of your wedding day. From the gown to your hair to the venue. Don’t second guess yourself. You know what will make you happy and hold a lasting memory. Remember, you want to look back on your wedding day and smile.

Finding the Perfect Reception Location

There are so many new venues in Richmond, Virginia to host your special day. Our suggestion when trying to find a venue is to get a copy of Richmond Bride. In the very back of the publication there is a huge list of reception venues! Listed is the rental fee, amount of guests allowed, parking info, time limit, etc. This saves a bride a huge amount of time when looking for a venue. Why call a venue and spend time leaving a message when they can’t accommodate your guest list? Every second counts when planning a wedding and you don’t want to waste any time.  The other reason why we love this publication is the other information they provide on “real weddings.”  Not only do they post pictures of actual weddings in Richmond, they list the vendors that were used in that wedding. That’s like a free referral! You can then google search that vendor and find out information on reviews or previous clients.

The other great way to find a venue in Richmond is to contact a planner! (of course I would day that right…haha) But it’s so true.  The Planner has “worked” at these venues and can give you insight on whether or not this would be a good fit for you.  We also can do the leg work on calling/researching these venues to find out if they can accommodate your needs. It’s what we do…and we so love doing it!!

Until next time loves….
